Sean Mulhern & Co was established in 1992 in Boyle, Co Roscommon. Following rapid growth, a second office was opened in Sligo in 1995. The firm acquired the Boyle practice of J.A. Leonard & Co. in 1997 and changed its name to Mulhern Leonard. John Leonard F.C.A., who has over 40 years experience as a practitioner, is retained as a consultant to the new practice.

The firm currently employs 20 experienced staff and is one of the fastest growing accountancy practices in the north west.


Sean Mulhern F.C.A. (Principal)
Sean trained in a large north west practice and qualified as a chartered accountant before moving to industry to work as financial controller for a large indigenous manufacturing company in the north west. He then moved back to his native Sligo to set up his own practice.

Sean has extensive experience in taxation and in all aspects of dealing with the Revenue Commissioners. He also has gained a wealth of experience in forensic accounting and has often served as an expert witness in court on behalf of both insurance companies and claimants.

John Leonard F.C.A. (Consultant)
John was a sole practitioner for many years trading as J.A. Leonard & Co, Boyle, Co Roscommon. John, who has over forty years experience in all aspects of accountancy practice, is retained as a consultant to Mulhern Leonard.

David Simpson B.B.S. A.C.C.A. (Office Manager, Sligo)
Following graduation from D.C.U., David worked in a Dublin practice for a number of years, gaining auditing and systems experience.

David has worked on a wide range of computerised accounting systems and also specialises in business plans and projections for new businesses.

Mary Cregg Halligan F.C.C.A. (Audit Manager)
Mary commenced employment with J.A. Leonard & Co. in 1989 and qualified as an A.C.C.A. member in 1993. Mary has a wide range of experience encompassing accounts preparation, auditing and taxation.

Freda Mc Guire B.B.S. C.P.A. (Office Manager, Boyle)
Following graduation from Sligo I.T., Freda joined Mulhern Leonard where she trained and qualified.

During her time working in practice she has gained a wide range of experience with both corporate and sole trader clients.

Following graduation from NUIG, Alan joined Mulhern Leonard where he trained and qualified as a chartered accountant.
